Named after a traditional bamboo craft toy, TAKETOMBO is a Craft Incubation travel program based in Japan, providing access to authentic traditional craft experience from its origin or historic source. We facilitate and incubate craftwork business model for young craftsmen & designers. Support and energize rural economy by promoting Craft practices as the true competitive advantage of Japan. Our goal is to empower traditional crafts and let them take flight in the 21st century.

In a country facing over-tourism in prime locations but steep decline in rural towns, Taketombo sets out to instigate a social responsible travel movement. We promote the best of Japan’s crafts and historic towns to curious travelers seeking authentic Japanese craft experience. Facilitate international dialog in the trade and with local communities. Energize aging rural towns by bringing new traffic and curate quality experiential travel and cultural exchanges.
