Sigatoka Disease is one of the most economically important disease of banana and plantain that affect the leaves of the plant thereby reducing the photosynthetic potentials of the crop and ultimately leading to yield loss. The disease can cause between 20% yield loss to entire yield loss in untreated farms.
The application of chemical fungicide also have portrayed a negative side effect as it pose danger to human health as well as the environment.
Hence, the use of genotypes resistant to sigatoka will provide the solution to this problem. Therefore, this experiment was deigned to screening for banana and plantain resistant to sigatoka
