Building Resiliency in Dominica

Building Resiliency in Dominica
Building Resiliency in Dominica

Hurricane Maria devastated Dominica with 160-mile-per-hour winds, damaging and destroying an estimated 90% of all the buildings on the island. Maria’s rains led to landslides which washed away bridges and damaged key roads. Dominica was was known as the breadbasket of of the Caribbean for its exports of guavas, mangoes, bananas, and citrus. Today, the aftermath of Maria is still visible and has completely changed the landscape.

Our goal is to set up a Mesh network and solar panels to allow communications for communities still lacking electricity. It functions as an off grid system comprised of multiple connection points.
