A Sustainable Future for Zanzibar: Recycling Waste Plastics into School Furniture

A Sustainable Future for Zanzibar: Recycling Waste Plastics into School Furniture

C-re-aid is in the process of developing furniture prototypes, made exclusively using recycled bottle caps. The objectives of this project are two-fold. We aim to raise awareness of the chronic pollution effecting Zanzibar; with a reported 96,000 tonnes of waste material being dumped, uncontrolled, into the environment every year. We also wish to create a workshop space, where the local community have the platform to create an industry surrounding innovative recycling solutions.
We will begin by providing classroom furniture for our partner school in Nungwi.
