Ece Ceylan Baba is a lecturer and head of the Department of Architecture at Yeditepe University in Istanbul. She has been an associate professor since 2016 and received her doctorate from the Institute of Architecture at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Her areas of expertise, which also involve ongoing research and publications, include utopias, dystopias, high-rise buildings, globalization, urban agglomerations, urban renewal, user participation, environmental and urban psychology, housing typologies and lofts. Her publications "Tasarım Demokrasisi ve İstanbul" ("Democracy of Design and Istanbul") and "Loft: Modernizmden Postmodernizme Geçiş Sürecinde Loft Mimarisi ve İstanbul'daki Yansımaları" ("Loft: Loft Architecture and its projection in Istanbul during the transition from Modernism to Postmodernism") were published in 2012 and 2015. In addition to her academic research, Ece acts as a juror for international and national design competitions and pursues her professional architecture career as a founding partner of Baba Architects.
