Tom Hirt is Head of Product Management and Information Channels for Traveller Information at Deutsche Bahn AG and founded the Think Tank for Traveller Information in 2014. Tom studied product design (focusing on digital media) at the HTW Dresden/Germany. Alongside his studies, he also worked at design agencies, at architectural practices and at other companies. In 1998, he joined the digital media department of ERCO Leuchten GmbH (Lüdenscheid, Germany) as the project lead for Internet/Intranet. Two years later, he took over the post as director of digital communication and, from 2004 to 2005, he also headed ERCO’s user interface design team in the area of R&D. From 2002 to 2014, he taught interface and interaction design at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences’ department of Interactive Systems/Hypermedia. He also supervises project work, holds workshops and gives talks. (November 2019)
