Hans-Joachim Pfennig, a typesetter by trade, he studied graphic design in Munich as well as design in Ulm and in Braunschweig. Teaching appontments in Braunschweig; employed by the consumer magazine Stiftung Warentest. In co-operation with the German Design Council he organized the exhibition Quality of Goods - Technology and Form. Champions inlucing design wehn comparing goods. Was test project leader for bicycles, household goods and aids for handicapped people. Concurrent with this, five years as assistant in the design department at Haus der Kunst Berlin. Special focus on lifestyle surveys for the home and the importance of product semantics for the design process. Member of various juries, most recently for Design Selection 94/Design Center Stuttgart.
