Day 7: KIDP Korea Institute of Design Promotion X DESIGNWORKS

“Relief“ and “Excitement“ are presentations of a two-year cooperation between KIDP and the design studio of the BMW Group in Munich. What drives people in times of the pandemic, how do they move in public spaces? What are their fears? “Relief“ illustrates. Do you enjoy driving, enjoy mobility? What are some of the most important factors in getting around today? “Excitement” visualizes.

Get in and take a seat! With the young talents of the KIDP Korea Institute of Design Promotion and the experts from DESIGNWORKS on a joyride.

KIDP’s Industry-Academic project with BMW Designworks

The Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP) supports young and competent Korean designers/design students with opportunities to participate in global projects with renowned companies around the world.

Through these projects, students are able to experience the entire design process of global companies. What makes the projects more unique and meaningful is that the participating companies are able to obtain design results that reflect not only the creativeness and innovative minds of young designers but also the local culture of Korea.

One successful example is a project conducted with ‘Designworks’, a creative design studio of the BMW Group in Munich, Germany.

This collaboration first started in 2019, through an online project between Korea and Germany that lasted for six months, with the final results presented at the BMW Munich studio in person. Participating students had the chance to talk with mentor designers at Designworks face-to-face and also visited BMW studios, factories, and museums.

In 2021, a total of eight Korean students in two teams participated in a new BMW project.
