Remap Providence / Data Mapping + Fabrication

Remap Providence

Do you remember how you got home? This work evolved from visualizing the frequency data of the RISD rides, the main transportation system for RISD students at night. This project was for the Rhode Island School of Design community.

Replaying ninety days of GIS data, I was able to visualize our geographical circumstances. Each RISD ride route became a stroke on the screen. Using rapid prototyping, I made a physical form that allows users to understand the data in a tangible state. Projecting the actual Google map on the fabricated forms give users a more intuitive understanding of the geographical placement of RISD students.
