In post-disaster reconstruction, donated materials are precious and how to best use these scarce resources is an important question.
Bottled water often appears in huge quantities in disaster areas, but the empty PET bottles are a source of considerable pollution. We have designed a new type of PET bottle which can be attached in pairs to form legs for tables and chairs. A special honeycomb cardboard packaging can then be attached to form chair seats and table tops.
These resilient recyclable materials can easily be assembled to provide multi-purpose facilities in disaster areas.
