A portable gas stove is made of steel with a protective powder coating as well as a disposable steel canister all contained within a polypropylene carrying case. In 2010, global consumption of the disposable butane canister amounted to 424 million cans.
The current manufacturing process of this existing gas stove is both high in energy consumption as well as the result of the raw steel extraction). These factors make a portable stove not eco-friendly.
Based on the Life Cycle Analysis, Vulcan is a sustainable gas stove that reduces the applications of non-renewable materials and creates much less impact to the environment.
