This disposable tongue depressor is made from sugar cane. This design helps to reduce a child’s fear of the doctor by giving them something to look forward to as well as a happy memory of the experience. Each depressor is individually sealed. During an exam, the doctor peels of 90 percent of the plastic cover, gripping the end of the depressor still covered by the plastic. When the exam is done, the doctor gives the depressor to the child to eat.
