TiHei Mauri Ora / Interactive Installation

TiHei Mauri Ora
TiHei Mauri Ora

Tihei Mauri Ora is an interactive installation that exhibits a traditional Maori narrative unique to New Zealand’s indigenous culture.

A large fabric membrane takes the shape of the tales narrative expressed fully through journey and experience. Embedded with an emerging textile sensor technology being developed by young NZ Company Footfalls & Heartbeats, the fabric skin acts as three-dimensional interface, of which the participant can push and pull to shape their experience. Through exploration the space becomes filled with sound and projected images illuminating the fabrics’ skin, morphing with the participants’ interaction and movement.
