HOC Extrication Tool

HOC is an ergonomic cutting tool designed in cooperation with the professional rescue personnel of the Umeå fire department. The main focus of the project is to improve the ergonomics of cutting tools in rescue situations. The risks of wrist injuries for fire fighters, which develop over time, are very high due to challenging postures. “HOC” is a solution that ensures the safety of the rescue personnel facilitating a quick extrication of the victim due to its improved physical and cognitive ergonomics. The circular handle at the back of the tool is designed to accommodate to different work postures and decrease the chances of injuries.
