As a minimally invasive surgery (MIS) instrument, martensitic SS isn’t an ideal material due to its low elastic limit. Once the operating force strayed from normal force during the operation, the device might break into pieces and result in a medical lawsuit. In this study we fabricated MIS medical device out of Ti base bulk metallic glass. The amorphous material provides relatively lower density, higher hardness and higher mechanical properties (over 2000 MPa), better corrosion resistance than martensitic SS. Above all, the elastic limits of Ti base metallic glass is more than 2%. It can bear more non-normally force than martensitic SS.
