CLAU is a rocking stool made out of chopped coconut fiber and coconut shell. This waste product is a very hard raw material, and its combination with resin makes a stable and solid mixture. It also provides a wide range of possibilities of form shaping.
The stool was produced in 2 days. After molding the stool in its negative form, CLAU was complete sanded until its surface became plain. The coconut shell has in Latin-America a second life: it is also used to make jewelry and crafts. This material is abundant in tropical countries and, even though its pretty hard, its easy to work with it.
