Cherishing Tree / interaction design

Cherishing Tree

Cherishing Tree is the interactive tree installation for Incheon Airport in Korea. If people wish their safe travel to the tree, it remembers them and greets when they come back. It’s inspired by Seonang Tree, holy tree in the Korean traditional village. People leaving a village wish their safe travel to the Tree by putting a stone in front of that. Remained people wait for them under the Tree. They believe that the tree delivers their messages between the sky(god) and the earth(human). The story of Seonang Tree applies aptly to the airport. Therefore, we plan to reproduce Seonang Tree in the airport to give people heart-pounding experiences.
