TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards 2012

No shifter, no cable. You don't have to actively shift gears anymore; they change automatically when a certain speed is reached and shift back when you slow down. With its two gear ratios, 1:1 and 1:1.37, this hub is best suited for bikes in urban surroundings. The shifting points can be preset by SRAM according to the guidelines of the bicycle manufacturer at certain speed limits such as 12, 14 or 18 km/h. For different types of bicycles, a range of sprocket sizes can be mounted: 15 through 21-toothed. The gear hub can be integrated into either in a 28- or a 36-hole-rim. The hub weighs 980 g with coaster brake function, and an aluminum hub shell is available as a lighter option.
