Chinese tradition calls for burning yellow paper money as a symbolic gesture for deceased ancestors or to pay respect to deity. This design eliminates the need for lighters as the paper will burn instantly upon opening. The friction from pulling out the paper out from its cover will light the paper instantly just like that of lighting a match.
