OBI’s “40 Years” book was handed out last Christmas to all the company’s employees in Germany. “Book” doesn’t really describe the unusual design: there is a mini-book that the reader has to cut out and set free, and cutting the main volume’s double-sided pages reveals a book within a book, filled with cut-out games. The world of building and DIY has been adapted and manipulated in the book’s visual style with wit and an attention to detail. An anniversary activity book is a good reflection of a company that traditionally expects its employees to join in, think ahead, and play.
