Turkish coffee resembles espresso, but is traditionally served with liquor or water on the side. The ridge that goes around the 40 Years cup works as a handle, protecting the user from the hot beverage. The conic shape of the elements allow them to be stacked. The ridge also allows the coffee cup to be placed inside the liquor glass when serving. A lid goes on top of the cup, which doubles as a plate for the cup when drinking. This arrangement of the elements create a unique serving experience that encourages people to take time to enjoy coffee and conversation. When liquor is not desired, the glass is served on the side with water.
