Three seminar spaces, one media lab and one photo-studio were fabricated.
The vertical layering of the wood frames (40mm) constitutes an unconventional application of this material. The frames were digitally milled by a CNC machine operated by a 3D computer model (6000 distinct pieces). The differentiated wood structure becomes structural frame and skin ornament at the same time, enabling alternating effects of depth through an interplay of light and shadow.
The use of modern CNC technologies was the continuation and perfection of an old idea: that the wall serves as a structural and ornamental system at the same time.
