Smooth and slender are the typical characteristics of the needle, which makes it easy to penetrate the cloth. However it also brings problems. As the needle is so smooth and slender that the friction when you hold it to penetrate the cloth would be very small. And that is the point that the Easy-needle was created. The difference between the Easy-needle and the traditional needle is the gaps. The special shape of the gaps would increase the friction between your hand and the needle, but wouldnt increase the friction between the needle and the cloth.
