Soban is a small and low traditional table which have been used everyday for dining in Korea. It surely embraces extensive culture of Korea itself. Due to globalization, the western culture immediately started to take its place over Korean traditions. Korean living culture is uplifted and the whole floor culture of using Soban is diminishing. People are facing away from their unique traditions and tries to adapt themselves to other culture. SOMI is a new soban and is designed to bridge between the traditional and the present. It is expected to ignite present Korean culture to acknowledge the beauty, authenticity and identity of traditions.
