Workspace Optimizer is a user-centered application for the MiroSurge surgery system. A modular robotic system for minimally invasive operations on humans built by the German Aerospace Center. With Workspace Optimizer the surgeon plans and organizes the forthcoming operation on the beating heart. With the
help of diagnostic image data and a
segmented 3D model of the patient, the
surgeon determines the surgical interven-
tion. Due to the defined heart area, the
application computes the ideal positioning
of the robots and entry points for the
instruments. A final verification of the
computed setup guarantees a successful operation.
