chair8 / chair

The chair8 results of playing around with the packaging of a Camembert soft cheese. The construction concept consists of a moulded wood stripe, formed to a loop, similar to the numeral 8. The 8-loop is segmented in two single-loops. They are made of 3D-veneer and will be connected with a connecting plate. The twisted shape and the process of compression moulding give them stability. The seat and back rest loops are made from similar moulding blanks and get their different shapes by milling CNC-machines. Different upholstery and covers are possible, optional netweave or weave with polymer threads. The chair legs are made of steel tubing.
