Bode Museum, Berlin / Extension Bode Museum

The design conbines the building area with the northern block structure conceptually. It defines an urban edge towards the Kupfergraben and the Geschwister-Scholl-Straße and continues the prevalent block structure.
The cube accessable from the foreyard at Kupfergraben contains the museum collection. With its height about 40 metres it formulates an additional landmark opposite to the domes of Bode Museum. Its reduced cubature extends the sequence of museumbuildings along the Kupfergraben and forms a typological connection by behaving as an urban dominant with a solitary character.
