Washing clothes by putting them into a basin until the clothes are submerged in the water is a waste of valuable resources. In countries where water is scarce, people often fill up one side of the basins bottom so that the water can accumulate in the lower side more easily. The concept used to design a basin with a bottom tilting at 12° was taken from actual users practice. Such a small change can lead to significant results and people can now save water without even thinking about it another step in the direction of better water conservation.
