The project ‘distanzielle spielräume’ (engl. distancial ranges) discusses how spatial distance defines the interaction between humans and machines and how it influences our perception and appreciation of everyday machines.

The work consists of a serie of 6 objects, made from wood and acrylic glass, representing abstractions of everyday electronic objects. The expected ‘distance of interaction’ of each object was altered to create new functionalities, propose new interactions or behaviors, and suggest new speculative situations. These were engraved into the wood.
