grimilde / costume for theatre

grimilde
grimilde

I analized Grimilde and I think that she has a bad soul, she believes to be the most beautiful woman but what she sees is an artificial image in a mirror. Grimilde has a animal instinct because she would like to eat the heart of Snowhite.
I represented this with a animal material, the leather, that I put on the gown. The gown is made of burnt velvet, also known as devorè.
As Grimilde eats the heart also the velvet is devoured by acid.
The bodice is made of recycled pvc and fragments of mirror, that symbolize the artificial beauty.
For the jewels and the headgear I thought about artificial fur, fragments of mirror and fringes.
