A communications designer is not just responsible for the appropriate design and colors of an organizations visual appearance; he also has to ask questions and advise the client. He must ask whether a symbol is necessary, whether it is beautiful and whether its symbolic qualities are appropriate for the client. He must ask whether the clients understandable desire for a symbol makes sense. He bears responsibility not only for the design but also for the message this design sends out. He has to understand this message from the perspective of both the sender and the recipient.
