The Econic holiday unit is a conceptual design created to encourage people to remain in the UK for their holidays. Econic sits gently in the landscape, both visually and physically. It has a footprint of under 10sqm and sits on low impact foundations. Grey water is recycled from the shower and sinks for use in the toilet and the sewage itself is processed via a reed bed system. Construction is of English oak and Finnish pine, with wool used as cavity insulation. Switchable glass is installed for privacy. A hand winch operates an extendible deck. The bathroom is part buried which allows for a view of the earth inside the hill.
