Knotted chair
Knotted chair

I have been inspired by my grandmother’s handcrafted crocheted lace to design this lightweight chair.

I used the technique of knotting, the structure of which gives a light and fragile impression, but the construction is stable and capable of carrying the weight of a human body.

The chair is made from a 6mm cotton cord, knotted into the shape, impregnated with epoxy and hung into a form to dry and get hard. The prototyp measures: 1:1 (h450mm, d450mm).

The Knotted Chair is the result of an Art University Berlin (UDK) Project.
