The unique suspension railway Schwebebahn, a masterpiece of engineering from the end of the 19th century and a landmark of the city of Wuppertal, needs new trains by 2013. In cooperation with the operating company (WSW) and in close collaboration with Wuppertals citizens, a user-centred concept for the new trains was developed. Within the tight constraints of the historic system, a multi-functional and forward-looking concept was created that solves the problems of the current generation of the "Schwebebahn" and is ready for the future.
