The unique suspension railway Schwebebahn, a masterpiece of engineering from the end of the 19th century and a landmark of the city of Wuppertal, needs new trains by 2013. In cooperation with the operating company (WSW) and in close collaboration with Wuppertals citizens, a user-centred concept for the new trains was developed. As a response to the usually highly technical specification catalogue, a development guide for the new generation of the Schwebebahn was created that shifts the focus from the technology to the user, who needs to identify with this system in order to use it.
