Haptic Braille / Text-braille translator

Haptic Braille
Haptic Braille

Visually challenged people can read printed materials through the Braille system. However, they have no access to daily newspapers, newly published novels or magazines. Even if they are printed in the Braille, they often get outmoded by then as well as it is time and resource consuming. 'Haptic Braille' is a new communication device targeting this problem for people with visual impairment. It is a mouse-type portable Braille translator: It scans any printed materials, recognizes the characters via OCR and translates them into the Braille on the surface of the device. Reading with fingertips inspired the mouse shape, which is easy to use.
