Seoul Soong-rye TG / Tollgate & Resting place

Seoul Soong-rye TG
Seoul Soong-rye TG

February 2008, the Korea's national treasure no.1 Soong-rye Gate was burnt down.
After the Soong-rye Gate, which stood firmly in the same place, collapsed because of the fire, we became to realize how precious that was. Preservation of tradition and traditional heritage is very important. However, in order to make something to be remembered in deep inside of people's heart, not only preservation of the old things but also recreating the old thing to be suitable for contemporary time and continuing the use is important. I propose Seoul Soong-rye Tollgate which reinterprets the meaning and function of Soong-rye Gate into a contemporary use.
