LED is considered as a strong candidate for the future lighting technology. We have proposed an optical wireless communication system that employs white LEDs for museum or gallery audio guidance. In this system, LED is used not only as a lighting device, but also as a broadcasting device. The advantages of the system include long life expectancy, high tolerance to humidity, low power consumption, and minimal heat generation. This “visible-light communication” can achieve audio guidance transmission with a low implementation complexity. And the lightwaves confinement make it easy to secure transmissions against casual eavesdropping.
