This is a design study of an innovative performance rowing boat. Computer based construction methods taken from the aerospace industry did not guide to a standard spline construction. The result was a topology-optimized "endoskeleton", which reacts to the actual forces between the rower and the vehicle. This demonstrates a new dimension in lightweight design.
The study picks up current trends in material and production science. Therefore nanotube reinforced polymers and rapid-prototyping were used.
