This research study shows how to bring the urban bus into the age of electric motors. Advantages of the urban bus, such as the simple infrastructure and the flexible service are retained. New energy storage and CFK manufacturing techniques enable a lightweight construction. A short, non-contact charging at bus stops downsizes the expensive batteries. The buses transparent bodyshell protects the supporting elements. At the same time, it offers new opportunities for visual communication. The bus can be used for short-term customization during city events. It could also create an urban facade. The urban bus as a new space for media architecture.
