Jean Prouvé never hided the production process of his products. Weld seems were not smoothed off and the construction mainly responded to static considerations. Inspired by this approach, I tried to tell the production process through the design instead of trying to obscure the process as it is common in industrial manufacturing. X Y and Z is a lighting series with joints that are connected through the simple method of squeezing. The squeezing does not only serve as a construction solution, but also constitutes a narrative feature of design. The shades are connected to right angle steel-tube stands through a flexible magnetic ball-joint.
