Unlike the common I-Ching version, this book adopts a more ancient system named Earlier Heaven Bagua. Starting from Qián, the Heaven and Kun, the Earth, the book is divided into the two volumes of Ying and Yang which can be reunited or assembled in two ways which symbolize the Chinese cosmology system - Round Heaven & Square Earth.
And each of the volumes Ying and Yang can be further separated into four parts. The Ying volume incorporates Xùn (Wind), Kǎn (Water), Gèn (Mountain), Kūn (Earth) while the Yang volume is composed of Qián (Heaven), Duì (Lake), Lí (Fire), Zhèn (Thunder). Together, the two volumes encompass the eight essential elements of the Universe.
With the evocative arrangement in mind, readers can proceed to explore the ancient wisdom I-Ching attempts to convey.
