The SEP gearshift works electronically and shifts gears in a linear way instead of the conventional parallel gearshift. The two-dimensional design is well suited for a light-weight, closed carbon body. The servo motor and a rechargeable battery can easily be fitted in the body so it is weatherproof. Energy is provided by a solar cell coating on the mainframe. The gearshift is self-adjusting and therefore independent of pinion gear standards.
