aufgelaltet / thermoactive module

"aufgefaltet" is a small module that reacts to sun and warmth. Its opening and closing mechanism is inspired by the movement of blossoms. Elegance appears in the event of an assemblage of many modules. They protect the facades of buildings from the solar heat. In the moment that wind goes over the structure the modules that cool down close. "aufgefaltet" makes use of the maintenance-free material ShapeMemoryAlloy. It has the quality to be elastic when it is cold. Reaching a certain temperature it folds back to its original shape. A SuperelasticAlloy closes the module at a low temperature. The SMA opens it again when the Temperature raises.
