Cultural Playground / culture

Cultural Playground
Cultural Playground

Human beings sometimes conflict with each other because of different cultures or customs. “Cultural playground” means different cultures together often can arouse new ideas or interesting concept or even new culture that we can share and play together.
In this work, I use Chinese and Japanese cultures as examples for this topic. During the meal, the chopsticks are displayed vertically for Chinese while the chopsticks displayed horizontally for Japanese. The two different directions of chopsticks (different cultures) interweave a “tic-tac-toe” playground. And the shape of hot pot presents “nought” and fried shrimps “cross.”
