Discipline: Interior Architecture

To mark its forth-centenary Mannheim, the City of Squares, sends a multimedia cube packed with sounds on a tour through Germany. The “Sound of the Squares” contains three zones. Zone one: the seating cubes. Zone two: the audio wood. Zone three: the sound lab, where visitors can create their own personal mix. Small sample cubes contain the audio building blocks; at the mixing console, visitors create their own “Mannheim Mixdowns”, then store them on a record cube and take them home for downloading. The cube’s architecture is geared for touring: four locations, fifty-three days and three thousand and five hundred kilometers. After dark, the cube becomes a platform for concerts.
