The book "The Fascination of Heidelberg" explains the history of the city
of Heidelberg (Germany) from prehistoric times to the future. The main text
(in black) describes the past, while the colored margin refers to the
present, providing additional information about the site in the photograph.
Chapters are sequenced to follow the historical chronology of the monuments.
The headline and margins of each chapter are color-coordinated with the
photographs. This color-coded layout helps locate sites on the city map and
the map of the castle. The two maps can be found on the fold-out pages of
the book's cover, allowing the reader to orient himself. Furthermore,
museums and public places are highlighted through the use of a special
metallic tone. As an additional special feature, the book contains
transparent pages that reconstruct the ruins in their original state before
they were destroyed.
