Surgery Tomorrow / Operating Theatre

Surgery Tomorrow
Surgery Tomorrow

This concept deals with a modular operating theatre which especially takes work routines and flow of information into consideration providing for a flexible access to equipment needed by the surgeon and the surgical team in specific situations. Most functional units are mounted to the ceiling and are arranged in the best possible way to support the surgical team in working efficiently and flawlessly. The operating theatre and its inventory were designed by a team of seven students from the University of Applied Sciences in Aachen, supported by the Helmholtz - Institute for Biomedical Engineering, belonging to the RWTH in Aachen.
