Origami Sharpener / Pencil Sharpener

Origami Sharpener
Origami Sharpener

Inspired by Japanese Origami, this pencil sharpener is made using single material, one component design. Via metal stamping and grinding, it is literally ‘folded’ out of a single sheet of stainless steel.

The sheet forms both the structure, and the blade of the pencil sharpener.

Combining this ‘origami’ aesthetic and a formal analogy referencing that of traditional razor blade, this design creates a notion of precision, efficiency, quality and stylish simplicity, in an otherwise mundane and often overlooked piece of stationery.
