The book documents Western influence on the youth of modern China. It portrays young people, living in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, and traces the development of a peaceful youth movement that is taking place in the metropolises of China 30 years after the death of the Chinese leader Mao Zedong and the end of the Cultural Revolution. Today, Chinese youth is interested in Western pop culture: fashion, film and music have stepped into their lives and have influenced them.
